It’s because we do everything but milk the cows ourselves.

We formulate our own recipes so every flavor is a perfectly balanced combination of creaminess, sweetness, and flavor. We make everything from scratch. We don’t compromises on quality. We even grow some of our own ingredients and source the rest from local farms and a farmer-owned organic dairy co-op.

Artik Creamery has a style all its own: bold, complex, subtle, unique. We combine the rich creaminess of classic French style ice cream with slow-churned nature of Italian gelato. The result is an amazingly smooth, wonderfully creamy, and perfectly textured ice cream unlike any other.

We are the only local ice cream company to make organic ice cream from scratch. We do not use pre-made ice cream mixes like the other local shops selling “housemade” ice cream.

At Artik Creamery, we make no compromises when it comes to quality. Our ingredients are the best available and we handle them with love when crafting each batch of ice cream. We make everything fresh from scratch.

We start with the highest quality organic cream sourced from a farmer-owned dairy co-op. Our cream is richer than others and is pasteurized the old-fashioned way in single batches using the least amount of heat needed. This results in a smoother, creamier cream with unparalleled taste. In fact, it’s hard to find vat pasteurized cream like ours: virtually all of the cream sold in the United States is pasteurized at high temperatures or even ultra-pasteurized, resulting in a slightly “cooked” taste and diminished texture. Not ours.

Our organic milk comes from dairy farms in the Coquille Valley near Roseburg, Oregon and is pooled with milk from other dairies in the same farmer-owned co-op. It is the freshest and best-tasting organic milk available.

We use organic evaporated cane juice and other organic and natural sweeteners including honey, maple syrup, and agave.

We sweeten our ice cream, sorbets, and non-dairy ice creams using organic and local sweeteners. These include organic evaporated cane juice, maple syrup and maple sugar, and raw blue agave syrup. We get our honey from local beekeepers.

Our custard base ice creams use organic egg yolks (our non-dairy ice creams and sorbets, however, are 100% vegan).

Just as important is what you won’t find in our ice cream: no gums, no stabilizers, and nothing artificial.

Add the best local and seasonal flavors

We use the finest fresh fruits grown organically or locally (always without pesticides) on small family farms. Our local blackberries are picked in the wild. We even grow our own organic kaffir lime, mint, and raspberries. As much as possible we get our herbs and spices from local growers.

Our kaffir lime ice cream is flavored with kaffir lime leaves that we grow ourselves along the beautiful North Fork Salmon River in Siskiyou County, CA.

Our chocolate is locally produced using organic Fair Trade cocoa and our coffee, also organic and Fair Trade (or better), is freshly hand-roasted in Ashland, Oregon by Noble Coffee Roasting. We use exceptional organic Fair Trade vanilla, cinnamon, and teas imported other Oregon companies. Even with these ingredients that are grown far away, we keep a local connection.

If your favorite flavor has baked goods like brownie chunks or cookies, we made them. Do you like the candied lemon zest? We made it. We use the same high standards for these special additions as we do for the ice cream itself.
